Guidelines

As the title rightly suggests, the following are guidelines which would be greatly appreciated if followed.

1. Dropping of players into Waivers

In our league, a player, when dropped, stays in the Waiver Wire for 2 days before anyone can pick him up and start him. If a player is dropped on Friday or Saturday, it becomes close or impossible for another owner to start him.

Dropping a player at a time to stop anyone from getting him is perhaps gamesmanship, but it should apply only when said player had been in on the roster of the owner for at least one game day before being dropped or if said player was a game-time decision. In summary, the guide line is

A player can be dropped on Friday or Saturday only if
a. said player was on the game day roster the previous sunday
b. or said player is injured or a game-time decision in the coming week

In case a manager really wants to drop him, please intimate the commish so that his waiver date can be set to Saturday or Sunday so that other teams have a chance to pick up the player.

Kickoff

And that is how it usually starts :-).

Welcome to 'Line of Scrimmage' - the megaphone for our Fantasy Football League. "Our" in here indicates a bunch of people who have an interest in the game that ranges from casual ("So, Is there a match this weekend ??") to interested ("Would Ladainian Tomlinson be able to repeat his 2006 effort ??") to quite over the top ("Houston has invested two of its first round choices in developing the defensive line, could that be because they play against a high-powered offense like the Colts and a dual threat QB like Vince Young twice a year ??").

You can start of by looking at the "Index" table on the right hand side of this entry. It gives you a fair idea of the league, its managers and the rules. It also contains links to various Fantasy Football sites that give in-depth coverage of player value, suggested starting line-ups and potential sleeper candidates.

For most of us, this is our first time in a Fantasy Football league. For a few, it is their first time with Football itself. But that is no reason to worry because the rest aren't far ahead either. To let you in on a little secret, we have people in this group who are so dated that they are
a) raring to take Brett Favre with their first pick.
b) cannot believe that Drew Bledsoe, a former No. 1 draft pick, is not in the league anymore.
c) still calling the Saints, The 'Aints.

All that this League requires is a few minutes (or hours, for the slightly seriously ones) of your time every week to diligently set the starting line up and some consideration for the other members who are here to have fun playing in a competitive league. Feel free to smack talk (knowing that there are Black Belts in Karate amidst us), make unreasonable trade demands, fight over waiver rights and have fun.
